Mount Kisco residents Kevin Alvarez-Soto and Hugo Lopez-Ramos, both 19, have been arrested and charged for their roles in the burglary in a village pharmacy, police said.

When they were arrested last month, a “sizable amount of prescription medication” was seized by investigators.

According to police, shortly after 10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, the Westchester County Police Department received a report that Robert Jacobson Surgical Pharmacy on Main Street in Mount Kisco may have been broken into.

Upon arrival, responding patrol officers found that a window at the pharmacy had been broken, a search of the pharmacy was conducted and police canine units were called in to attempt to locate possible suspects.

Police noted that the pharmacy owner alerted investigators that a “large quantity” of prescription medication was missing from the store. The investigation ultimately led to the arrest of Alvarez-Soto on Friday, Dec. 27 and Lopez-Ramos the following day.

At the time of their arrests at their Main Street residence, the two were in possession of approximately 750 prescription pills.

Both teens were charged with third-degree burglary and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation into the whereabouts of additional missing pills is ongoing, police noted.

Following their arraignment in Mount Kisco Justice Court, both teens were released on their own recognizance and scheduled to appear back in court on Thursday, Jan. 2.

“I commend our detectives for this successful investigation,” Westchester County Police Commissioner Thomas Gleason said. “It is important that we keep these kinds of prescription medication off our streets.”
